The handle is made up of two different elements: the grip made of anodized anticorodal aluminum and the tempered steel frame which also performs the function of locking the blade (Frame Lock System). This mechanism requires that part of the frame is folded inwards, firmly fixing the blade in the open position, increasing the operator's safety when using the knife.
On the tang there is a slot for inserting a lanyard, on the right side of the handle there is a steel clip that allows concealed carry in the pocket.
Ant is available in 4 versions with two different types of steel both supplied by Böhler, an Austrian company with which Extrema Ratio has been collaborating for more than 20 years using its proven materials for the production of its blades.
The Ant Black and Ant Black Stone Washed versions use Böhler N690, hardened to 58 HRC for the best balance between edge retention and strength, a type of steel used by Extrema Ratio for the majority of its knives.
For the Rescue Red Stone Washed and Black Stone Washed versions M390 Extrema Ratio uses Böhler M390 steel heat treated to 61 HRC which, thanks to a powder metallurgical production process, guarantees cutting effectiveness, resistance to wear and tear over time. 'oxidation.
The blade is sheep foot shaped and has a small slot on the top to facilitate opening. Its particular structure, thanks to the straight edge, allows the user to comfortably rest his fingers on the back of the knife and use it with ease.
Ant Rescue, unlike the other 3 versions, has a red grip that allows the operator to find the knife more easily in the event of a fall. This version is equipped with a specific toothing that allows it to cut rope and even high tenacity aramid materials. This model is also equipped with a tapered shank which acts as an emergency screwdriver. Ant Rescue was developed according to the needs expressed by the "Alpine Troop School of the Italian Army".
